Cellist

François Deppe was born in 1964 in Lille (France). He is the priviliged collaborator of composer Thierry De Mey since many years and he assisted Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker for a number of productions of Rosas. He was a member of Maximalist!, both as cellist and composer ever since its foundation in 1984. Nowadays he is a leading member of Ictus. François Deppe got his higher degree at the Brussels conservatory and studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg. He worked with several of the best composer of the twentieth century, such as Kurtag, Ligeti, Kagel and Klaus Huber. He premiered lots of new pieces for cello.

François Deppe werd geboren in 1964 in Lille. Hij werkt regelmatig als muzikaal assistent met componist Thierrry De Mey en assisteerde ook Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker bij een aantal producties van Rosas. François Deppe was lid van Maximalist! en is één van de kernleden van Ictus sinds zijn oprichting. Tevens is hij coordinator van het – sinds 2000 - jaarlijks Internationaal Compositie Seminarie van Ictus.
François Deppe behaalde een hoger diploma aan het Conservatorium van Brussel en studeerde aan de Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg. Hij werkte met verschillende toonaangevende hedendaagse componisten zoals Kurtag, Ligeti, Kagel en Klaus Huber en creeërde tal van solostukken voor cello.

François Deppe est né en 1964 à Lille (France). Il est le collaborateur priviligié de Thierry De Mey depuis des nombreuses années, ainsi que d'Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker pour plusieurs productions de Rosas. Violoncelliste et compositeur, il fait partie du groupe Maximalist! dès sa création en 1984. Il est aujourd'hui membre de l'ensemble Ictus qui se produit fréquemment aux côtés de Rosas. François Deppe est diplômé du Conservatoire de Bruxelles et de la Hochschule für Musik de Freiburg. Sa longue fréquentation des meilleurs compositeurs de notre époque, de Kurtag à Ligeti, de Kagel à Klaus Huber en fait un observateur aux avant-postes de la musique du XXe siècle. Il a donné de nombreuses pièces pour violoncelle en première audition.
